The Kardinya Congregation had its beginning in a private home in 1978 as an outreach from the Melville Uniting Church.
Official recognition as a congregation of the Uniting Church was given in February 1980, by which time services were being held in the local Kardinya primary school.
The first minister of the congregation, Rev Phil Hulbert, was inducted in October 1984 and, shortly after that, land was purchased by the Uniting Church Synod of WA and planning for a Church complex on the current site began. The construction of the building was completed in November 1987.
The first service was held on the 6th December and the building was ‘Dedicated to the Glory of God’ on 14 February 1988.
The ministers who followed Phil Hulbert were:
- Rev Patrick Yeo from 1994 to 1996
- Rev John Barendrecht 1997 to 2003
- Interim ministry from 2003-2004 by Rev Phil Hulbert & Rev Patrick Yeo
- Rev Neville Campbell February 2005 to May 2008
- Revd Marie Wilson half time June 2009 to October 2012
